@ai6yr Cycling is great. I do enjoy it (except for the damn cars). But there is one small problem.

Roads.

For bicycles to be useful and efficient, they need paved roads. Pavement is massively costly to lay and maintain.

I am not sure what the answer is, other than greatly reducing suburbanization. Horses, maybe.

@davidbrin Reagan set the wheels in motion for today’s GOP to form. His dictum was “Never speak ill of a fellow Republican”, and he used the religious RW to amplify his and the R’s power.

And anyway, what with the alzheimers, its is not entirely clear that he was all there to begin with.

@uspolitics Face it, the FRWers are not going to fold just like that. St. Ronnie gave them legs, and they will continue to fight hard to bring back the (sixteen) fifties. They will be with us like long-Covid.

@uspolitics An Individual-ONE win could lead to massive reforms in the system, as in "we do NOT want to do THAT again." It would not be fun, but it could be a net positive, in the long long run.

Every other thing about her is better, though. Low bar, but still, she is better than CFSG in every way.
