Democracy Dies in Anticipatory Compliance - Total agree with Doug, "This is yet another reason why billionaires shouldn’t exist. At least tax them down to being millionaires." @dougporter506 open.substack.com/pub/dougport #Politics

@pamela6591 @benroyce I'd add schools, the power grid and health care to the list of things that should never have been privatised.

What is an existential threat? Trump is a threat. Period. No adjective needed.

The #WashingtonPost and #LATimes will go down in infamy for their cowardly decisions to forgo a presidential endorsement this year. Let’s be clear. This is appeasement of authoritarianism. It is obeying in advance. It is cowardice.

@TruthSandwich

I'm not sure I have the power to make someone I've never met feel shame.

Objectively, people who refuse to vote are telling everyone they HAVE met that they don't give a shit what happens to them. They're telling every woman, every LGBTQ person, everyone who's Black or Asian or Jewish or Muslim, every child who may get shot in their school, that they don't care if they live or die. That's a fact.

If they feel ashamed about doing that, maybe they shouldn't do it.

MSM finally admit that #TFG poses an existential threat.

Trump demanded troops deploy to the Capital bc of G Floyd protests in DC, but he never gave the final order. "He wanted to do it, he was suggestive of it." And he wanted to deploy active-duty troops to bolster security at the southern border.

With less that two weeks until Election Day, some of his most senior former advisers are warning Americans to take his militaristic impulses seriously-.

Wow -- #Biden to Native Americans for abuses in Indian Boarding schools: "The federal government has never apologized for what happened. Until today. I formally apologize as president of the United States of America! ... it's long overdue. Quite frankly there's no excuse."

The New York Times certainly accused Hitler's opponents of having Hitler Derangement Syndrome.

“This is #cowardice, a moment of darkness that will leave #democracy as a casualty. Donald Trump will celebrate this as an invitation to further intimidate The Post’s owner, #JeffBezos (& other media owners),” former Post executive editor #MartyBaron, who led the paper while #Trump was president, said in a text message to The Post. “History will mark a disturbing chapter of #spinelessness at an institution famed for courage.”

For those who cont. to criticize Republicans campaigning for Harris, seems they help Dem causes

Fascinating thing abt watching someone break w their party over 1 big disagreement is how it pushes them to rethink other party-line stances, too. A few days ago Liz Cheney criticized abortion bans. Now Kinzinger endorses electing pres by popular vote

Adam Kinzinger:

Want to create change in America? Get rid of electoral college & force all candidates to compete for all Americans

No, Trump won't be better on Gaza. He will *increase* aid to Israel (he has said as much). He will remove whatever few guardrails kind of exist right now on our aid to them ("Let them finish the job"). He has been itching for war with Iran since his first term (the only reason it didn't happen the first time around is because the generals refused).

As if the literal fascist will stop a genocide of people he hates.

FFS, what are we doing here people?

"Our job at The Washington Post is to provide through the newsroom nonpartisan news for all Americans, and thought-provoking, reported views from our opinion team to help our readers make up their own minds."

Okay, nonpartisan news and thought-provoking opinions. Got it. So tell me again, why aren't you endorsing anyone?

Because all I see is your fear.

BOOM. The Philadelphia Inquirer Editorial Board just endorsed Vice President Kamala #Harris for president. This is how it’s done. Thank you, Philadelphia Inquirer.

The WP slogan is "Democracy Dies in Darkness." They have succumbed to the darkness today.
