Since we know the DOJ under Merrick Garland is run strictly by the book by professionals who really don't want to make any mistakes in this case, of course they would take a meeting with the defense attorneys. The prosecutors probably said something along the lines of "thanks for coming in, we'll let you know if and when we're ready to indict, have a nice day"
