#BlackMastodon HELP! I’m looking for the source and full text of a quote that i saw on the wall of an exhibit at National Museum of African American History and Culture: it said something like “if I’m not represented in your vision of the future, do I exist in it?”. I’m pretty sure those aren’t the right words…
Boost for reach? Thanks!
@tomcapuder I love explaining how I did NOT use free will to get cancer. Why would anyone do that?
@AlliFlowers
Yup. That's when I hit 'em with the impossibility of free will existing with an omniscient god. If the #god has forever known what you'll do, and you can do nothing else besides what he's foreseen, then where's the free will?
@tomcapuder This is why I get so angry with believers when they try to win the discussion with “free will.”
#Christians:
For argument's sake, let’s say #Jesus existed and cured a blind guy.
Why would #God create blindness?
The U.S. keeps laws on the books so that regular people won't think they can commit the same crimes that rich and powerful people get away with. https://www.politico.com/news/2022/12/30/north-carolina-meadows-voting-charges-00075881
@Squish @therobburgessshow @MariaSalomons @weezmgk I want to follow individuals, not instances. I’ve been very happy.
@TransitBiker @robryk @TechConnectify @sass They don’t have them in upstate. Just in the city burb area like Orange and Richland counties.
@pyutaros @zleap @therobburgessshow
I chose an instance pretty much at random, and then I discovered that I really liked the person who was managing that instance (@KuJoe). Other than that, it doesn't seem to matter much who else is on that instance.
@robryk @TransitBiker @TechConnectify @sass You’ll just have to take my word on it then.
@robryk @TransitBiker @TechConnectify @sass Y’all need to drive in NY and see how well it works.
@robryk @TransitBiker @TechConnectify @sass Gadz! Maybe we just need more courteous drivers.
@TransitBiker @TechConnectify @sass You just described an alternate merge.
@TechConnectify @sass @TransitBiker Hence the alternate merge. Never saw a problem or heard anyone complain about it.
@TechConnectify @sass @TransitBiker Or do like they do in NY and put up signs that say “alternate merge.”
@sass Hot take - the only way we're gonna make zipper merges work is if the stop telling people which lane ends.
If a sign just said "Caution: Lane Reduction in Three Miles" we could force people to take turns.
But saying "Left lane ends" means planners will plan, they get over, then they're annoyed at the people who didn't plan, they don't let them in, yadda yadda.
