@dhstokyo As much as I despise McCarthy and Scalise, they’re both better than Green.

When I hear about the coup attempt in Germany & the desire of these violent extremists to insert Prince Heinrich XIII of Reuss as the leader after a planned execution of the German chancellor, it sounds ludicrous, laughable. But that's the thing: These people are deadly serious.

Because the plots of these anti-democratic extremists often seem so ludicrous, they can succeed because the public--& too many leaders--don't take them seriously enough. This tendency is how Trump got as far as he did.

@marcomerica @rbreich @mweston Copy/paste from there and just remove “RT” at the beginning and all the Twitter links. It doesn’t take that long.

@AlliFlowers @rbreich I understand why those who have a large Twitter following feel abandoning that platform is counterproductive to the goal: keeping an info network going because there is no comparable replacement. That's why Musk and his gang of Davos plutocrats bought it: to shut Democrat and Independent party opposition down.

I still check for news while joining other sites like this to rebuild, as Musk's toxic Twitter has already reached Dante's Fifth Circle of Hell.

@scerruti @edutooters @JenRoberts @DavidKnuffke @aus_teach Personally, I believe we need set rigor and hold onto it. Why allow students to enter institutions of higher learning if they’ll have to take remedial courses once they get there?

@CaptBobbers Remind me tomorrow (I’m going schluffy now) to post pics of my ST collection. I think you’ll be impressed.

@catsnkittens@botsin.space We also have 3 with very different personalities. We have the outgoing friendly one who always wants to be where the action is. The oldest, who is a typically independent feline. Then there is the middle child who is the reason they’re called pussies. He’s afraid of everything, and never comes out of hiding when there’s company.

@scerruti @aus_teach @DavidKnuffke @JenRoberts @edutooters That’s true in a lot of programs though, not just education. They need the money.

@JenRoberts I know many excellent teachers who are not good test takers. I don’t accept that bad test taking is always a result of stress or that stress is always responded to in the same way, regardless of context 🤷🏻‍♂️

@brainsmatter @theconversationau More importantly, who decides that a given word is a “swear word?” Why is “shit” a bad word, but “excrement” isn’t, even though they mean the same thing. Why do we not yell “oh fornication!” When something goes wrong?

@beammer57 This is true. I’ve also noticed the ones doing this are those with huge Twitter followings. That seems to be what they care about most of all, but their followers will find them here.

@CaptBobbers @rbreich I think we need to work harder at providing the content. There are lots of smaller instances to join (the one I’m on has like 6 people), and since they are all connected it doesn’t really matter which one you join.

@rbreich @AlliFlowers I came to say the same thing. It’s time to let go of that platform. At the very least, post directly here instead of cross-posting.
