Trump and his allies tried to exploit vague language in the Electoral Count Act of 1887 to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
It didn’t work then, but it could work in 2024.
To stop Trump’s next coup attempt, the Senate must act now — before it's too late.
@rbreich I’ll really miss following you, but I can’t deal with your inability to separate from Twitter.
@AlliFlowers @rbreich
As much as we would all love it, musk hasn't completely killed the #BirdSite just yet... keeping a presence there may be a good idea for the near term, given their content and target audience.
Think about leftists still on TikToc, Insta, YouTube or Twitch... all draconian corporate social media operations, but that's where the audience is located. What we need are more creators like this one, crossposting from corp to fedi for the time being.
@AlliFlowers @rbreich
That's in addition to the fact that many of the larger Mastodon instances have stopped accepting new accounts momentarily because all of the over-worked, volunteer admin and mods cannot process more faster.
There was always going to be a bottleneck to fast growth with decentralized social media, but it's just a momentary choke point. As more and more people find exactly the same content they've always had, it'll become easier to detach.
@CaptBobbers @rbreich I think we need to work harder at providing the content. There are lots of smaller instances to join (the one I’m on has like 6 people), and since they are all connected it doesn’t really matter which one you join.
@AlliFlowers @rbreich
Well, like anything, education is the key.
There is definitely a learning curve to this place... while it's not a steep gradient, some traditional media outlets have convinced many normal people that Fedi is not worth the effort. Having larger creators, some even hosting their own instances, on the platform will pull more folks away from corp.
@AlliFlowers @rbreich
It's also the interconnectedness of the entire Fedi. I've been here more than a year and I just today followed the first #PeerTube channel through Mastodon... they're the first #YouTube channel I've seen (in whose content I'd be interested) that has a presence in both corp and fedi... so I follow both. Once more creators cross posting on these platforms (plural) the more folks will be sold on the benefits.
@CaptBobbers @rbreich That’s what makes horse races.
