While it struck large metropolitan Northeastern counties early, "nonmetropolitan Southern counties had the highest cumulative relative excess mortality by July 2021." In other words, Republican, rural areas most likely to deny the risks, reject the vaccine and refuse to wear masks.

We are so unprepared for the next #COVID19 wave. Visited a pharmacy to buy some COVID tests. They don't have any and don't plan to restock them. Meanwhile, COVID continues to mutate, the population's immunity continues to fade, and we have another dangerous fall and winter ahead of normal social and travel behaviors with zero mitigations. Those who don't learn from history...

That is: at least 1 out of 20 people hospitalized with COVID in Massachusetts, and up to 1/10 people, DEFINITELY GOT COVID IN THE HOSPITAL.
