@MichiganCJ @brndnpink@hachyderm.io @edutooter Similar to Alabama. There are two things that could be helpful across the board, never offered in my decades in AL schools: teaching to data, and special ed.
My latest at Digital Trends:
I’m ready for a folding iPhone — but only if it has these 5 things: https://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/apple-iphone-fold-flip-things-i-want/
I was a skeptic at first, but after using a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, I’m a little more open about foldables. I would love to see what Apple could come up with if they enter the market.
@brndnpink@hachyderm.io @tdrummon @edutooter Maybe because (in the US at least) we are not thought of as leaders. A leader is respected. Teachers…not so much.
@tdrummon @AlliFlowers @brndnpink @edutooter Here's a good quote about humility and shepherding from a famous Sherpa ... "If it is a shame to be the second man on Mount Everest, then I will have to live with this shame."
@AlliFlowers @jeffmoore @brndnpink @edutooter I am in. When we hit the climate/death/misery wall, if there is one, a widely agreed-upon plan for healthy stewardship could transform the Earth.
@tdrummon @brndnpink@hachyderm.io @edutooter Interesting that you say that. In French the word “apprendre” is used both for to learn and to teach, depending on the preposition which follows.
For some reason I think more of administrators when I hear “servant leadership.” I don’t know why.
@jeffmoore @tdrummon @brndnpink@hachyderm.io @edutooter Let’s start a movement!
@tdrummon @brndnpink@hachyderm.io @edutooter A good teacher is a facilitator who guides a student through the path of learning. Maybe the word “teacher” is inadequate. Are we sherpas?
To run for any office at the Federal level, you must fill out an app to be a Candidate. There is a law if you lie on an application to the Fed Govt, it is FRAUD against the United States and a FELONY. Lying on any application to the Fed Govt be it for a job , or permits, housing asst, medical asst, grants, contracts and other things. If you lie on an app for ANY of those things, it's FRAUD against the United States and is punishable by imprisonment, fines or both.

@brndnpink@hachyderm.io @edutooter Follow-through is the most important piece. If there’s no follow-through, how do you evaluate effectiveness?
@brndnpink@hachyderm.io @edutooter Depends entirely on the teacher/area/level. K-6 can more easily be grouped. 7-12 and tertiary would do better with a menu.
@brndnpink@hachyderm.io @edutooter Definitely A. If a school/district enforces PD, it doesn’t apply to 100% of teachers and winds up boring those to whom it doesn’t apply. Allowing teachers to determine their own path gives them opportunities for growth in their own field AND allows them to explore new areas of interest.
A little bit of #GoodTrouble and good #News coming from the #USPS in 2023
USPS will honor the life and legacy of the late Georgia congressman and civil rights activist John Lewis with his own Forever Stamp
@pburke46 We regularly get mail for my husband’s 2nd wife (I’m the third). We’ve been married 25 years. We moved a year ago, and she’s never lived at this address.
@StephanieMoore @dougholton Distance learning *should* be a part of all education. It makes a difference when you choose it rather than it being thrust upon you due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control.
@StephanieMoore @dougholton I interviewed middle school parents for a qualitative study having to do with the fall of 2019 when schools first closed. I swear some of them have PTSD.
Now that the Chinese government was pressured by public opposition to lift its draconian covid restrictions, two things are happening: 1) Covid is spreading rapidly in China; and 2) Chinese people are rushing to travel abroad. This is not good. https://www.axios.com/2022/12/27/china-travel-lifted-covid-restrictions-rules
"It’s very often the case that when a man puts work out into the world, the world looks at the work and says, 'Is this work worthy?' And I think that when a woman puts work out into the world, the world looks at the woman and says, 'Is this woman worthy of putting out work?'" - Glennon Doyle
YUP.
(And I would add, and I expect Glennon would fully agree, that the same "are they worthy?" question is applied when the person putting work out is queer or a person of color.)
