Mockingbird on Mystic Branches
I saw this northern mockingbird (Mimus polyglottos) on this rather interesting looking tree, while looking out the window of my hotel room at the ocean last year at Gulfport Mississippi. I took the picture through the window. It turned out okay, don't you think?

Bright Yellow Bird in the Wild
Here is a photo of a female scarlet tanager (Piranga olivacea). Unfortunately, the chance that I have of seeing one of these around here is during migration. These birds are members of the family Cardinalidae and are closely related to cadinals, buntings, and grosbeaks.
I don't post all of the photos that I post here to my Pixels gallery, but I post the photos I like best. Some don't make the cut. I usually wait a couple of days and see how I feel about it then.

@Swede1952 I keep seeing people tooling down the road on one-wheeled powered devices. There is that thing that is like a center-wheel skateboard, but I have also seen straddled wheel machines, and the rider is just casually riding down the road at 20+ mph.
But, of course, those are not classic unicycles.

Yesterday a Mastodon friend said that some birds can be picky. Here is and example of just that, this blue jay (Cyanocitta cristata) is searching through the seed mix to find a peanut and swatting the unwanted seeds out of the way.

I don't want to think about politics anymore, I want to sit by a fire and listen to Vincent Price tell ghost stories.
But I also don't want to hear all these people acting like there's no point even trying. Yes, the electoral system is a mess, and it's gerrymandered to shit, just remember they wouldn't do all of that, if we weren't still a threat, if there weren't more caring compassionate people than racist sexist idiots. Remember that the media is owned by billionaires who want you to feel defeated, and like it's not worth trying. Go vote, even if you're in the reddest state possible, no matter what the polls say, this matters, you matter.
