People with visceral uninformed reactions to anything AI related remind me of similar issues throughout history. Such as the Swing Riots.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swing_

This problem is not technology.

The problem is that capital ownership controls all aspects of the factors of production and collects all the rewards.

Complaining about AI but liking capitalism is like a slave asking for chains that are more comfortable.

@selzero Disapproving of normalizing and promoting a planet-burning(*), fasism-empowering parlor trick as a gratuitous illustration is not a "visceral uninformed reaction".

(*) I'm aware single image generation operations don't consume all that much energy. Building the models does. And normalizing their use normalizes building them.

@dalias

Rich.

I downloaded it from Google images.

That burned as much planet as your toot.

Effectively by using a mobile phone I am normalizing using microchips on a device designed to be obsolete in 2 years.

All of this is already normalised.

@selzero @dalias Sounds to me like you are advocating for denormalization. Which I have a hard time arguing against, since the current “normal” is pretty darn fu.
