@alteropen @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social unions are the only representation rank and file workers get, otherwise it’s you against “The Man” as the phrase goes. Yes, unions must be reasonable, responsible, have perspective, and the interests of their workers as the prime motivation. Imo, they’re better when they're locally controlled not National.

One thing I really like about #Mastodon - on #Birdsite, extremist right-wing posts kept showing up on my timeline and if I blocked them, others would just replace them.

This started after Elon took over and got worse after he started selling blue check-marks.

My mental health really is a lot better without an algorithm.

Back when I called the suicide hotline (a mistake, I got charged a ton of money for the "help") it was suggested that I don't watch the news because the news was +

@LauraJMG @GreenFire The Conservatives movement in the USA used to value the environment. It makes perfect sense, protect our home and keep it relatively clean. In addition a Republican named Mitt Romney sponsored basic universal health care. Somewhere along the line, infiltrated by various nefarious elements like TeaParty, QAnon and others, the GOP has lost their way and my trust.

@GreenFire @Huntn00 Then GW Bush undercut major elements of the Clean Air Act… etc. etc.

@GreenFire @Huntn00 So true! And even back when, it was hit-or-miss. Nixon signed major expansions of the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act into law, but Reagan took down Carter’s solar panels and (in)famously said trees caused pollution. Then came GHW Bush, who passed critically important improvements to the Clean Air Act into law ( remember when acid rain was a thing?), and iirc also put in place the CFC’s phaseout (goodbye, ozone hole!).

@Huntn00
I'm old enough to remember a time before the fossil fuel industry started paying millions and millions towards supporting the GOP in order to get them to block all #ClimateAction

For example, the move to efficient LEDs was championed by former President George W. Bush, whose Energy Independence and Security Act in 2007 and called for household light bulbs to have “about 25% greater efficiency” but now they're entire political platform is geared towards protecting the #FossilFools

@GreenFire A combination of rationalizing, denial, and ignorance. A common problem for lay people is who they chose to vest their trust in, and commonly that trust goes to the source that resonates with their wishful thinking, prejudices, and perceived self interest.

@GreenFire The Right- too much sinister in charge and too much Koolaid drinking. Just know that today’s Republicans idolize profits and they don’t care what they cannibalize to achieve it even if it harms everyone and the Planet. And the R-Minions they just drink the Koolaid as a lemming group activity and rave like lunatics. These people have been assimilated, but more important, their IQs are questionable, selfishness is excessive and I’m tempted to apply the term white privaledge, racist.🤔

I know that rational people find it hard to believe, but there are still a ton of Americans that are willing to let the GOP still keep power because they think that #BothSidesAreBad in our two-party political system that we've allowed to keep control over our political landscape here.

Well, if you care about our #ClimateCrisis and you're willing to do something about it than you #Vote and you #VoteBlue

This is just a plain undeniable truth.

Just a reminder for those who like to jump all over #EV battery recalls and fires to argue that EVs are either unsafe or not ready for deployment:

Recalls of gasoline-powered vehicles - including those for fire issues - happen regularly as well. They usually just don't get as much press.

A solid majority (56%) overall called climate change a major threat, including almost 9 in 10 Democrats and a slim majority of independents. But 70% of Republicans said it's either just a minor threat or no threat at all.

Wisconsin’s #Dairy Industry Relies on #Undocumented Immigrants, but the State Won’t Let Them Legally Drive

Undocumented #immigrants in the state can own and register their vehicles, but they aren’t allowed to drive them, forcing many #farm workers to risk fines and #arrest.

“It’s a Catch-22 for a lot of folks,” advocates say.

@mls14 Peacock only has clips. I took @Huntn00’s advice and subscribed to Sling. Still half the cost of YouTubeTV.

@AlliFlowers There's a blue and an orange selection with different channels. Or subscribe to both depending on what you watch. Practically the only thing we watch on Sling is MSNBC. 🤔
