Esperanza is one of my favorite plants, as its #tropical origins makes it perfect to survive our Texas triple-digit weather.
@MKSinSA …along with Vinca, lantana, good ole roses. 🙂
@Huntn00
Had a really nice lantana that this past winter proved its last leg 😕
How are your roses doing in this heat?
@MKSinSA As long as they have adequate water, which is not excessive, the roses are sturdy to the sun,heat and blooming nicely. However, generally it seems like with this kind of heat plants are liking more shade. I’ve got some succulents I have moved into mostly shade, some into the kitchen because they were burning up. Did you hear about cactus dieing in Arizona due to the intense heat? 😳
@MKSinSA Trees are like a reprieve. It’s so long since we’ve gotten decent rain, I’m afraid we’ll start losing trees. I never thought as a resident of East Central Texas I’d be experiencing almost the equivalent of Arizona summer weather. But the people of Arizona, they probably never expected to be experiencing Gehenna temps. 😳
@Huntn00
I've been watering my trees once a week since ?late? June, which was when they started dropping leaves. Elms. Before this summer, I've never had to water them before late August.
DFW BTW.
