At least a dozen countries face the risk of hantavirus infections after passengers aboard a cruise ship in the Atlantic contracted the Andes strain – the only variant known to spread person to person.

Three people are dead.

There are eight confirmed or suspected cases. Eighteen Americans were on that ship, and at least one has tested positive.

@oldredsubby My impression is that average people are ignorant, possibly willful, just don’t want to know, or don’t care, locked into their status-quo economies. It’s just too hard for them to respond to what is perceived as a subtle effect with an accumulation of dire consequences. Better to just let the grandkids deal with it, even though we’re feeling it today. 🤔
