It's because their policies are so deeply damaging that Democrat Catelin Drey just won a deep-red district in deep-red Iowa by a 10-point margin in a special election. It's a district Trump carried by 11.5% in 2024.

I'm not a fan of gerrymandering, but if the Republicans continue to try to disengranchise blue voters in red states, more Democratic governors need to follow Newsom's lead.
