My mother is a Depression baby (almost 88 and still sharp as a tack) who had every communicable disease in the 30s-40s and remembers classmates who died of Polio. You can bet your bippie she got me every vaccine available — basically I’m of the first generation (born in ‘64) to benefit from ALL the vaccines for childhood diseases.

Texas judge ruled that because the CROWN Act - which was passed specifically to protect hair styles such as braids, locs or twists - did not mention length of hair, the same school district the act was written in reaction to can go ahead and order a different Black student to cut off his locs. Not even having the author of the law there to explain the legislative intent mattered to Judge Chap B. Cain III.

Boy, has Alabama bitten off a nasty hunk. This debacle is going to be a real mess.

A librarian helped me find the book my son requested today. She knew the plot & the characters & even pointed me to the newest story from the series in case he might enjoy that too. Then she recommended other #books he might like.

When I thanked her, she simply shook her head explaining, “It’s my job. And I really love my job!”

I share this anecdote simply bc librarians are the best people 📚✨

Reproducing: if one can or can not, if one should or should not, if one wants or wants not, is nothing that anyone else should involve themselves in.

I read this attempt of these Oklahoma police to try to cover up the circumstances of Nex Benedict's death — which was very obviously the result of anti-trans hate — in the same way I read reports of the determation to hold onto the body of Navalny, which is said to show signs of bruising and which Russian officials are pressuring his mother to have buried secretly.

There's a reason many Trump supporters want the US to be a version of Russia.
