Opposition to student loan forgiveness really fucks me up, you know? Especially the "shoulda learned a trade" assholes.
With the amount of pressure that gets put on kids to believe and then ACT on the belief that college is how you achieve a "better future," in american society? And then you want to mock and punish those same kids when that pressure WORKS?
The fuck is that?
Trust and believe, forgive all student loan debt and make college free and watch how quick we find out what "bettering ourselves" can really mean in this society.

Reducing funding for HBCUs would have a direct and awful impact on the number of Black women doctors, scientists, and software engineers.
Because Black women doctors have such a huge positive impact on Black patient life expectancy, reducing the number of Black women STEM grads would have knock on impacts on Black infant mortality and life expectancy, not to mention net worth, education and quality of life.

I don't blame them for declining. HBCUs survive by being cautious and suspicious. And at the time, it was difficult to see how the changes to college sports equity were inevitable.
I asked the group to offer the opportunity to join the league for free because HBCUs are a critical pathway to creating Black STEM graduates, and HBCUs are horrifically underfunded.
Many of the wealthiest Black Americans are athletes. Athletes give back to their Alma Maters. Very few top Black athletes attend HBCUs.
