@futurebird the complete divorce from reality that is possible in this country based on which network you get your news from is insane. And not even really deniable, at this point. At best, one side is based on truth, and the other lies, there’s absolutely no way to reconcile the divide with simply political shading of the truth. And I’m for from convinced that we’re in an ‘at best’ scenario.

The last legal slave freed in the United States was actually freed by FDR, who only did it because he was afraid America's enemies would use the propaganda of "these people still have slaves" against us in WWII. (Really. The 13th Amendment "abolished" slavery, but there was no enforcement mechanism, so people just kept doing the slavery until 1942.)
