I liked this reporting from the Sacramento Bee. Much of it may be paywalled, but it starts like this:
"They were loud. They carried signs denouncing President Donald Trump and billionaire ally Elon Musk. They sang protest songs of an earlier era, and they came to California’s state Capitol by the thousands Saturday to sound the alarm that their nation, their democracy and their livelihoods were at risk.
"Military veterans and seniors afraid for cuts to benefits, Social Security and services. Wives of green card holders fearing that their spouses will be swooped up by federal immigration agents. Black and brown Californians angered at attempts to erase history, legacy and achievement under pretense of eliminating diversity and equity initiatives. Teachers and federal workers protesting the defunding of public schools and national parks — and on and on."

Prison is the only time Trump appreciates the benefit of outsourcing to foreign countries what they can do for less cost than can be done in America

i felt pretty much the same way when i was sent to church every Sunday as my parents stayed at home because they were too busy. Unbeknown to them, I started skipping church when the minister couldn't give me a satisfactory answer to 'if there's a God, why does he let innocent children die when they aren't old enough to have sinned?'
"You must have faith God has a plan' was a cop-out.
Instead, many happy Sundays spent in the local woods, walking along the stream, etc
If Congress intervenes re the tariffs--and I hope they do--it's an infuriating reminder that *they have power to intervene they haven't been using for all this other shit*
One flight attendant recalled being told: “‘If a fire occurs in the cabin, if we land on water, don’t check on the immigrants. Just make sure that you and the guards and the people that work for the government get off.’”

A 2nd child has died in Texas from #measles, the 3rd US death in 2025.
Context: There have been as many measles deaths this year in the US as there were in the previous 24 years.
It's only early April.
2025 is on track to be a very bad measles year. Already the 3rd worst year for confirmed cases this century and on track to surpass #2 soon.
North Korean-level stuff:
“Amid anti-DEI push, National Park Service rewrites history of Underground Railroad Since Trump took office, the park service -- an agency charged with preserving American history -- has changed how its website describes key moments from slavery to Jim Crow”
The disappearance of Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia is outrageous and unacceptable. This, alone, is justification to topple the Nazi Trump regime.
BRING HIM HOME. NOW.
