We’re only two months in, & they’re cancelling research into pediatric brain cancer. They’re deporting US kids with brain cancer. They’re putting millions at risk of malaria, TB, & polio.

I for one will never forgive or forget those who said ‘it won’t be that bad’.

@AlliFlowers @ai6yr I believe brand new vehicles are not supposed to shed their body panels.

You can bet the farm some lower-level engineer brought this to his bosses and they shut him down hard so they could continue to sell Cybertrucks.

Reminds me of most Chinese crap you buy these days at Wally World. The garbage is only made well enough to get you to buy it and walk out the door. There is zero consideration to how long it might last.

It all comes back to #greed.

If Congress doesn’t have the power of the purse and the courts don’t have the power of law, then our system of checks and balances crumbles and the US constitution is finished.

Either the administration faces immediate and overwhelming resistance to this, or democracy in the US is over.

I get a kick outta telling morons their weather app’s info had to come from somewhere.

“If you’ve ever avoided a hurricane, ducked a tornado, evacuated ahead of a wildfire, or merely relied on a weather forecast to take an umbrella to work, you likely have the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to thank.” - Jeffrey Kluger

Macron says Russia’s permission not needed to deploy troops in Ukraine - theguardian.com/world/2025/mar "French president says France, UK and others could each deploy ‘a few thousand troops’ to key locations to show Ukraine ‘long-term support’" damn right

"#Ukraine is a sovereign nation. If it requests allied forces to be stationed on its territory, it is not for #Russia to decide whether or not to accept it."

Since this got so much attention, I'd like to use this moment of sunshine to invite you all to read with us next week:

Project 2025 plans are to destroy the administrative state rid America of our honorable civil servants to gut and steal the funds then privatize as many agencies as they can. Raising tariffs is intended to destruct the way America operates nationally and internationally. All of this folks is to bring back manufacturing. That would take 20 years and would decimate our liberties, bankrupt many Americans and cause starvation for an incoherent dream of a tyrant that will end up a “nightmare.”

Caribbean leaders have hit back at a threat issued by the United States government to cancel visas for anyone working with or supporting Cuban medical facilities, citing allegations of forced labour and claiming these missions “enrich the Cuban regime”.

Cuban medical missions, which provide doctors, nurses and other medical staff as well as medical facilities, are critical to healthcare systems in the Caribbean.

From Nick Lilja, former Chief Meteorologist at WDAM:

Just a brief reminder that due to recent layoffs (and the hiring freeze) at NOAA, there are fewer weather balloons sampling this system as it moves into the US and develops, there are fewer forecasters at the NWS obtaining data and offering analysis, and the three NWS offices serving this area will be working with fewer-than-normal meteorologists on staff for this event.

So please be kind to them if this weekend ends up being very active. The model data may not be as accurate leading up to the event, the regional forecasts may lack additional data and context, and the local offices may struggle more than normal to keep up with multiple simultaneous storms given the lack of available people in the chairs.

I know these folks are all dedicated as public servants to do the best job they can do. But the reality is they will be working longer hours with fewer people, and fewer resources during an event that may feature above-nornal activity.

Just thought I'd leave this here as a little reminder of those *ahem* sleepier times just two months ago.

Let me know when we're great. Or just when we're as great as we were in January.
