Random weird career advise for US people: when you change jobs, it may be tempting to make your last day fall in the last day of the month. It looks like a good and clean way to provide "closure". Don't! Instead set your last day for the first day/week of the following month.

Most companies pay for insurance at the beginning of the month, and you keep it until the last day of the month even if you left the company. Leaving the last day of the month, you'd be uninsured until the next job starts.

There’s a subtle form of power difference when people for whom “supporting Palestine” is a “values discussion” tell me, a person who actually has family in Israel and for whom “intifada now” is a clear call to murder them, that I have the “wrong values” for objecting to that phrase.

Like, for you this is a mantle of “being a good person” you can put on or take off. For me it’s my actual home country and family, and not something I can walk away from.

House Speaker Republican Mike Johnson told reporters Tuesday that his office notified Democratic Senate Leader Chuck Schumer’s staff the day before that if the Senate leader does not sign the draft invitation for Netanyahu by Tuesday, he will proceed with inviting the Israeli prime minister to address just the House. The Speaker, however, noted that he would invite senators to attend the speech.
