Toronto policy change: grocery bags

When I returned to Canada I was sad to find that #Toronto grocery chains generally do not provide the option of recyclable (paper) bags. 😱

Now the city wants to charge us *more* for those awful reusable (still plastic) bags, presumably to encourage us to bring our own 👍

EXCEPT: shut-ins who order-in groceries (like me) are collecting heaps of these damned things 😡

Do you want PAPER BAGS too?

Technological revolutions has brought humans to the moon and sent robots to Mars.

It may sound like sci-fi, but one day, I believe, we will even overcome the challenge of creating webpages that are not ruined by popups.

@PaulAKachur @AlliFlowers Same. I'm not a fan of Biden by a long shot. But I'll do what I've got to do to get to still have any say in the matter next time. One bad candidate is not enough to justify sacrificing our entire democratic system over.

“This year's flu season is again starting early; the current flu activity levels are about four to six weeks ahead of when we usually see them. And with activity already at highs in many states, there's a good chance that we'll again see extremely high levels in some places—moving from red to the dreaded deep purple on CDC's scale, which we saw last year.”

Map is 11 days old. Wear those masks. Get those flu shots. Travel with tests.

Early Thanksgiving thought: I'm very thankful for all of you here; it seems all the thoughtful, kind, and considerate folks I knew on that other site (and many new friends) are here; for whatever reason, the attention-seekers, people-only-on-social-media-for-ego, and hate has not crossed yet into the Fediverse (or has successfully been defederated!), and for that, I am thankful. #thankyou

Rhetoric advocating violence against people who disagree is an abuse of free speech. It is an incitement to violence. Trump does have followers who will carry out his violent threats. He should not be allowed to get away with inciting violence any longer. How many people in America have to be injured and killed by the uncontrolled words of this aspiring dictator? Donald Trump is not above the law, and he is subject to the basic laws like everyone else. His threats have to stop.

i believe Andy Samberg and Justin Timberlake once wrote a song about this very situation
