I've been struggling to put thoughts into words, but this is exactly it: "I think one of the most depressing things for me, and I imagine most Jews right now, is the knowledge (not fear or concern, but verified knowledge) that if my family and I were murdered, you ghouls would debate if we had it coming."

I know there's a lot going on, but the Senate just passed a reckless amendment that would prohibit the enforcement of mask mandates on public transportation at the federal level for the next fiscal year.

Shamefully, 10 Democrats voted in favor of a ban:
Baldwin (D-WI)
Bennet (D-CO
Brown (D-OH)
Kaine (D-VA)
Kelly (D-AZ)
Klobuchar (D-MN)
Manchin (D-WV)
Rosen (D-NV)
Shaheen (D-NH)
Tester (D-MT)

The unanimous election of Mike Johnson to Speaker of the House has settled any lingering doubts. The Republican Party is dead. There is only the MAGA party.

If you are voting Republican, you are voting for Trump and the end of the Democratic Republic.

War

@CaringKinderSociety

There's plenty of complexity in war, but some things aren't complicated at all.

Civilians are, categorically, not POWs. And treating civilians as if they were, is a war crime.

BREAKING: A military base in New Jersey is on lockdown because of an active shooter.

Yesterday, a US Army soldier who had previously threatened to shoot up his base went on a shooting spree in Maine. He is still at large.

Maine is a long way from New Jersey, and I guess this is probably just a coincidence. Here in the United States (and nowhere else), mass shootings are a routine occurrence.
