2/ "No article received more than 14 of the required 21 votes to convict. Only two of 19 Republican Senators, Bob Nichols of Jacksonville and Kelly Hancock of North Richland Hills, voted in favor of convicting for any article — a stark contrast to the nearly 70% of House Republicans who impeached the attorney general in May." texastribune.org/2023/09/16/ke

Texas Republicans are letting Ken Paxton get away with his corruption and crimes, probably the least surprising news of the day.

This is what the GOP is, a lawless, corrupt bunch of goons and criminals.

Paxton not impeached! Texas is a criminal enterprise! A true SHIT-HOLE state!

They’re done voting in Texas. Ken Paxton was acquitted on all 16 articles.

Way to go Texas Republicans. You voted in favor of corruption… but only if the offender is a fellow Republican, of course.

Sorry for repeating myself but this needs to be said.

Most Republicans and quite a few Democrats are pushing for the social stratification of America, along racial and economic lines.

Almost every white American is here because their white ancestors ran away from a stratified society. By advocating for social stratification here, they are in effect saying that their ancestors were wrong to come here.

They should have accepted their place in that already-stratified society.

Ken Paxton acquitted on 10 of 16 articles of impeachment so far.

The voting has been along party lines, except for two of Republican senators who crossed the party line on some articles.

#Biden's office put out a statement a few months ago saying there would be no #pardon for #HunterBiden. Nobody is talking about pardons... except #rightwing operatives and sensationalist #media. And no matter how many times it's shot down, they just keep bringing it up. These individuals and entities have an interest in fabricating controversy, and keeping the non-issue front and center in the minds of Americans. When you see shit like this, always question the #motives.

The version of America they want back is the 19th century.

Gilded age robber barons. Public corruption. Slavery. Food adulteration. Snake oil. Civil War. Voteless women. POC who "knew their place". Starving workers. Industrial pollution. Perpetual pandemics. Water & air contamination. Poverty stricken old age. Cemeteries filled with the graves of unvaccinated children under the age of 5.

It took 2 world wars to wrest control away from aristocracy and begin democracy.

😡😕 Sure, Tuberville's making a lot of new friends among those really serving the United States & being really faithful to their oath of allegiance.

"The wife of a Navy officer is stuck in professional limbo, unable to accept a new teaching contract overseas or return to her old job in a Virginia public school.

Two children of service officers are being prevented from enrolling in a new school after leaving their old one in anticipation of a move.

Two Air Force officers are living in temporary housing and paying their own storage costs because they do not know how long their promotions will remain on hold."

A single failed shoe bombing 20 years ago and we’re still removing our shoes at airports. Mass shootings almost every day, but we do nothing about guns.

Another great quote from Cory Doctorow's new book "The Internet Con How to Seize the Means of Computation". This reminds me of a beautiful nch of f people in the news:

“If I am rich, it must be because I am brilliant. How can you tell I’m brilliant? Well, for starters, I’m rich. Having proven my wealth and brilliance, it’s clear that I should be in charge of things.”
