Giving Ice Cubes a try. It’s awesome to have an abundance of great iOS clients to choose from now, especially if you include those currently in Beta.

(Note: I’m able to do a QT from Ice Cubes!)

On a small, private server the downside with #fediverse is that the federated feed is quite boring. (I haven’t dared to add any proxies for capacity reasons.)

@icecubesapp, just released on App Store, has an elegant solution for this: Follow the local timelines from other servers!

As a side-note: The creativity among the app developers right now is wonderful to follow!

Playing with @icecubesapp reminds me of @ivory. Both apps are very clean and I like the ability it has added to view remote local timelines. Since I've moved to my instance, I don't see discovery content well and this is helpful. Give it a look. #apps #mastodon

@icecubesapp@mastodon.cloud Is there a way to allow all content so I don’t have to keep opening things? Also, when new posts come in, how do I get them to stay at the top so I don’t have to scroll down to see what I missed?

A majority of House Republicans’ new committee chairs are election deniers

The GOP chairs will have a huge say in House priorities that could shape the future of US democracy.

@democracydocket Wait, am I understanding this correctly? Ohio will not accept military ID as proof for voting? So much for Ohio's vaunted pro military stance. Ohio is apparently not worthy of being home to the extraordinary Air Force Museum or of Wright Patterson AFB. Whoops - goodbye 35,000 jobs!

This Axios article ... interesting to see how private thoughts about the purpose of #school are different from what we assume is important to the rest of society. What's missing here altogether, though, is preparing #students to serve as collaborative problem-solvers who value shared belonging. I'd argue that's at the root of the purpose of American public #education. If people aren't naming that in a survey, we have work to do. @edutooters @edutooter #edutoot axios.com/2023/01/17/american-

Dear gods. This could result in Christofascism really being promoted in the US, as workers of other faiths find themselves out in the cold. vox.com/policy-and-politics/23

I’m really unsure now about what’s being said about Santos. Is it comedy? Satire? Was he really a drag queen? If so, was he any good?

We are awaiting two SCOTUS decisions that will have major impacts on our democracy.

In Moore v. Harper, the Court could embrace a radical theory that may allow state legislatures to ignore their state constitutions when making laws for federal elections.

FL GOP Gov. "White is Right" Ron DeSantis: "AP African-American Studies Program, as Written, Violates Florida Law" - says the racist governor.

I believe this may be the most Blatent right-wing racist attack on education I've ever seen!

Racist Gov. George Wallace is dancing and drinking in his grave!

Peter Hotez says,

“People are saying this will be mild. It’s not mild. Do the math: With 400 or 500 deaths a day, that’s getting up to 150,000 to 200,000 a year, which is four- or five-times higher than the worst flu season.”

#COVID

Masks are not a lockdown.
Nor is testing before events.
Or getting boosters.
Or improving ventilation & filtration.

None of those interventions (despite some people's best efforts to claim otherwise) cause more harm than good. Every person who cares about the economy, jobs & quality of life will support sensible #COVID19 precautions, not oppose them.

Some people are advocating for millions more to die and many more to be chronically disabled. Reject their patent lack of sense & empathy.
