Vermont DOH: Vermont Department of Health Confirms Case of Measles

3/11/2025

"WATERBURY, VT — The Vermont Department of Health has confirmed a case of measles in a school-aged child in Lamoille County. The child became sick after returning with their family from traveling internationally in recent days. The risk to the public is believed to be low, as the child has been isolated from most community settings while they have been contagious. Investigation is ongoing.

This is the first case of measles in Vermont in 2025, following two cases in 2024 and two cases in the decade prior, one in 2011 and one in 2018. This case is not related to the three ongoing domestic outbreaks of measles in the United States or to the current measles outbreak in Québec. "

I applaud Democratic Representative Bill Keating, of Massachusetts, for literally standing up for his colleague, Rep. Sarah McBride. theguardian.com/us-news/2025/m

@ned As a white guy, I'm always ashamed of the stupidity of some white people who complain about immigrants "stealing" their jobs.

It's either a back-breaking job that no "white dude" wants to do because it is badly paid and super hard
OR
It's a job that requires a level of education (e.g., Master's degree or Ph.D.) that those same white people do not have because they don't "believe" in education/science.

Either way, immigrants didn't "steal" anyone's job!

@noelreports The problem is not getting Russia to agree, but getting Russia to uphold the agreement.

@AlliFlowers It's so amazing #MAGAmoron speaks out his ass and it looks just like his mouth.

In order for Agent Orange to do his tariffs he had to declare a national emergency. Congress has the ability to cancel the emergency (and related tariffs.) Dems wanted to force a vote, so Republicans changed procedure to prevent such a vote. **They have ceded power** To keep him in check and prevent having to go on record against him, against something they don't agree with, and their constituents don't agree with. COOL.

@GreenFire And the next tremor you feel will be Jimmy Carter rolling over in his grave.

@flexghost

Since RFK is all about the science (hah!), let's give him the measles and see if his immunity is still strong.

@MiriShuli I got a post pulled on Facebook for that. Some lady asking about where she should move her mother, who lives only on her social security. I suggested that she move her mother in with her cause this administration is about to take all our SS away. @jeffjarvis

Seriously, if you've got plans to come to the United States this year on a matter which is not absolutely essential, please cancel the ticket and get a refund.

If they're non-refundable, still ... consider the lost money a small price to pay for your safety.

The risks are too great right now.

Reminder, the U.S. government shuts down Friday night if the Republicans don't figure out how to fund it.

Also, House Republicans who demanded an end to remote work are planning on ending their work week on a Tuesday.
