@gemma I’d need to see some scientific studies upholding this. I’ve never seen a study suggesting that empathy can be learned. And even if someone who has empathy can turn it off, it doesn’t stay off permanently. It’s too painful. @nedhamson @harriettmb@mastodon.ie

@mambearpnw@mastodon.social I only see one way to interpret it. Books are being banned because “they” feel that books can change the way someone thinks and feels. And yes, up to a point, but reading a book abut a gay couple isn’t going to make the reader gay any more than reading a biography about a serial killer is going to turn the reader into a Republican.

If books are responsible, then why aren’t guns?
