On September 1st, Qevin said that he absolutely WOULD NOT open an impeachment inquiry without a full House vote.
Since he unilaterally opened an impeachment inquiry today, I suspect that there is some more damaging information about Republicans about to come out that he's hoping he'll be able to deflect some attention from.

Democrats passed the enhanced Child Tax Credit and cut child poverty nearly in half. Every Republican voted against it.
Republicans fought against renewing it, instead wanting to cut taxes for the wealthy and large corporations— and the child poverty rate just more than doubled.
