My corporate landlord just sent out a passive-aggressive email to all tenants reminding them that “rent payment due on the 1st“ and that they will be charging a $110 late fee as per the lease.
I replied back thanking them for the reminder and highlighting that the San Francisco Inclusionary Affordable Housing Program Monitoring and Procedures Manual caps late fees at 5% of the rent.
We have several units in our building that are reserved for people making 30-50% of the area median income. Late fees for them should never be more than $38-50. They’re trying to charge them more than twice that.
It’s crazy how confidently incorrect a $13B company can be.
