Could you even imagine if people reacted to HIV/ AIDS the way they do to Covid/Long Covid? They'd be like, we know you all have condom-fatigue and also your immune system won't be used to fighting off gonorrhea or herpes and it might make you weaker if you wear it, and they're not comfortable, so learn to live with HIV/aids, it's out there, we are gonna get it, and it's not even an Emergency, because it's known and not unusual anymore.

@AlliFlowers in that instance, it's understandable. Perhaps more the relation itself. An 'ex' is personal and directly connected vs. someone you don't know (former president, former head of XYZ Company, etc.)
