I feel both terribly sad and also hopeful when I see how Zooey Zephyr, a transgender woman legislator in Montana, is treated by her colleagues and how she responds.
They banned her from speaking on the floor; so she speaks truth to power and sets up on a bench outside the entrance for the legislature. Not once has she stopped working for the people in her district despite facing bigotry. All of the people of Montana should be outraged that an elected member can be voted into legislative exile.
