Forgive me for sounding like a broken record, but how on Earth are we supposed to believe we “can’t afford” paid family leave, universal pre-K, or climate action when our politicians are willing to pass an $858 billion annual defense budget without batting an eye?

Some additional info:
1. The "reply comment" period referenced in the article is another chance to comment, but you are supposed to be commenting on someone else's comment. It's basically a chance to "upvote" or "downvote" others' comments.
