OTD in 1865, the United States adopted the 13th amendment & nearly abolished slavery. Yes, nearly. The 13th Amendment left open slavery and indentured servitude as punishment for a crime. They don’t teach us this in school, but America never fully abolished slavery. That’s truly horrifying.

Congress must abolish unpaid prison labor & truly abolish slavery and indentured servitude in America. We must uphold justice as the supreme standard in all manners. That is how we form a more perfect Union.

At this rate I think it might be easier to make a list of who will NOT be referred.

The way the world is today, I keep thinking of a short story I read years ago called “All The Last Wars at Once.” I hope it isn’t apocryphal, but you should decide for yourselves. docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid

@edutooters @DavidKnuffke @aus_teach @scerruti The only thing “fundamentally broken” in education is how it has become a) standardized test driven and b) being run by businessmen instead of educators.

@BrentToderian So far it appears everyone can see it. Even if they’re not following the person to whom you’re replying.

This is what’s wrong with a bunch of folks who have migrated from Twitter. They can’t let go. So far it seems to be an issue with people who are well-known and have thousands of followers over there. They simply copy their tweets and paste them here, usually still with the tweet address and often “RT” at the beginning.

Do you know what I dislike most on social media (particularly Facebook)? People use it to whine and complain about silly little things. And they use it to wish a “happy heavenly birthday” to people who are dead and not reading social media.

I don’t care.

@giascott Pronunciation is the final thing to master in another language. Keep pushing though!

I’m still undecided about this whole retirement thing. I really need to be teaching someone something.

Always puzzles me that allowing someone to practice a different religion than yours or even no religion at all somehow infringes on others’ “religious liberty.”

@braveneutrino @edutooters
How do we push the learning so that it's not just about a 'problem but also 'opportunities'?

Not to sound like woke radical lefties, but we are very much against terminating the United States Constitution.
