Trump's reference to “God” in his statement is a wave to his evangelical base, some of who believe war in the Middle East will bring about the Second Coming, the ascendency of Christianity, and the Rapture.
It also gives him a convenient opportunity to try and convince people he’s ordained by god with his actions, which is dangerous and disgusting.
