Of course.
There is one main difference of course. AFAIK, there are no countries where theists are persecuted by an atheist government.
China and the USSR were exceptions, but that is no longer.
And please don't give me Falun Gong and Uighurs. That is the totalitarian state persecuting what it believes are political opponents.

Face it. He's the God of the culling. The village has made it past midwinter, the elders know how much food is left, how many people it will last for. If there isn't enough, the families who have had too many children will have to decide who goes with the man in red.

This is true if it means that it is possible to criticize Israel without lapsing into antisemitism. (It is.)

It is not true if it means that criticism of Israel can't be antisemitic. (It can, and often is.)

It seems that a lot of people assume it means the latter, and they're wrong.
