Mention of death

@VickiWoodward I went away for a long weekend with my mother. My neighbor either came over or sent her little ones with food for my husband every day. @KayJanes

Anderson v. Griswold, ruling that Trump is ineligible to appear on Colorado’s Republican primary ballot, is about 200 pages. I’m attaching it here, with my annotations, to help folks through the material. I’ve highlighted different sections in different colors and underlined or otherwise indicated particularly important passages. All the opinions are clear and important to read for yourself, whether or not you are a lawyer. drive.google.com/file/d/13peW_ #LawFedi #Jan6 #2024 #PresidentialElection

ANY state or local official can REJECT Trump as constitutionally disqualified from office, under the 14th Amendment.

It does not require Congress.

It does not require a lawsuit.

Trump has ALREADY been disqualified. Automatically.

Colorado just recognized the obvious.

Soon, SCOTUS is going to decide:

1) Whether Trump is disqualified from office for leading an insurrection

2) Whether Trump is immune from being prosecuted for leading that same insurrection

Clarence Thomas should recuse himself from BOTH cases. He won't. But he should.

@Ooze@aus.social So they are for democracy? @Judeet88@universeodon.com

@Judeet88@universeodon.com And it needs to be a coordinated effort, otherwise they may all try doing the same thing, or working in the same area at the same time.

@Judeet88@universeodon.com I was just thinking of small groups who get together to perform a single task.

@Judeet88@universeodon.com I agree, but even in the simplest of situations, someone will take charge.

@Judeet88@universeodon.com It seems as though they did not think through the thought. Someone will always take charge. Anarchy/chaos cannot last.

For the life of me - I don’t understand anarchists.

@gfish I thought it was just a NY thing. My daughter’s favorite. I never had them growing up. @littlemiao

@Judeet88@universeodon.com That’s why I’ve unfollowed so many folks lately.

@smeg @TonyStark what if I told you that zionism is merely the right of Jews to self-determine in parts of their ancestral lands, and that the majority of Jews are opposed to the West Bank settlements?

The reason why our hackles are raised by this is that people frequently mistake criticism of Israeli policy in the West Bank and Gaza for anti-zionism. It's not - anti-zionism calls for the abolishment of the entire state of Israel, with no regard for where the millions of Jews living there would go.

@TucsonSentinel
Ranked Choice Voting is our quickest, most accessible path towards ending the two-party monopoly that our Electoral College has created and it will increase voter turnout because more Americans will feel their votes can matter more. Voter apathy is what has allowed the far-right to accrue so much power.

In Alaska’s new election system, it “gave citizens greater choice and elevated the most broadly appealing candidates, in turn improving representation.”
