@rabbijill My daughter and I explained this to my mother on our weekly FaceTime call. Apparently, when she was a girl, girls didn’t go to Sunday school or Hebrew school. My daughter and I were rather gobsmacked. This all came from a discussion on frying latkes, and my comment that the oil was the point.
