Tuberville is a danger to our country.
How can Tuberville’s military promotion holds finally end? ‘No reason to be in a hurry,’ he says - al.com https://www.al.com/news/2023/11/how-can-tubervilles-military-promotion-holds-finally-end-no-reason-to-be-in-a-hurry-he-says.html
someone pointed out the sad truth, of course, a while back...
while everyone can take a moment to acknowledge his passing -- and most who do will probably raise a glass and feel some mix of satisfaction/relief/etc -- the simple fact is the man escaped basically all judgement and punishment.
he was never held accountable or made to pay for all of the crimes, suffering, and death on his hands.
people from our own lifetime like G. W. Bush are going to go the same way... they'll be ignored and/or have their history revised and never see the inside of a prison. they'll clink glasses with celebrities and millionaires until they peacefully shuffle off, eventually getting one or two half-hearted paragraphs in school text books which offer not one tenth of the condemnation and scorn they deserve.
you can feel simultaneously pleased/relieved and yet also disgusted/disheartened by this fact today... and everyday.
Anthony Bourdain on Henry Kissinger:
“Once you’ve been to Cambodia, you’ll never stop wanting to beat Henry Kissinger to death with your bare hands. You will never again be able to open a newspaper and read about that treacherous, prevaricating, murderous scumbag sitting down for a nice chat with Charlie Rose or attending some black-tie affair for a new glossy magazine without choking. Witness what Henry did in Cambodia – the fruits of his genius for statesmanship – and you will never understand why he’s not sitting in the dock at The Hague next to Milošević.”
I'm glad Jimmy Carter has outlived Henry Kissinger. Rest in piss, war criminal

"Today, 16 more people have been returned to their families after being held hostage by Hamas for more than 50 days. Among them, is Liat Beinin—a high school teacher, a guide at Israel’s Holocaust Museum Yad Vashem, and an American," says President Biden in a statement.
My bet? Both are R*'s. Talk about cancer, this is one sick country!
