Israel-Hamas
I see an awful lot of calls on my feed for a ceasefire. There are a couple of questions that come to mind when discussing this.
In the case of Israel committing to such a ceasefire, why would Hamas agree to? What actual reason would Hamas have to honor any such agreement?
What is the plan, if such a ceasefire was possible? Is it to pump more aid that Hamas would most certainly exploit or remove civilians from the battlefield?

Is anyone else disturbed that in the wake of #Saskatchewan's new rights-denying pronoun legislation, attendance at school GSA groups is already down? So instead of achieving its stated goal of bringing parents into their student's life, the new law has just created one more place where gay and gender-diverse kids can't be themselves.

I just read a headline in my LA Times about how anti-vaxxers also don’t want to immunize their pets against rabies.
The stupidity, cruelty, and recklessness of that mindset is beyond jaw dropping.

House Republicans unveil plan to avoid government shutdown: a two-tiered stopgap spending bill. Some agencies & programs until Jan 19th, others until Feb 2nd.
“This two-step continuing resolution is a necessary bill to place House Republicans in the best position to fight for conservative victories,” said House Speaker Mike Johnson.
Please tell me House Democrats are going to call him on openly using the federal budget process for partisan campaign purposes, and then refuse to go along with it?
