@Ronnie @bleakfuture @inkeduprunner Wow!!!
@AlliFlowers @Ronnie @inkeduprunner I just wish Apple could make them out of something that scuffs more and picks up more stains. 😉

@bleakfuture @Ronnie @inkeduprunner I got the Magic Keyboard when I first got my iPad Pro. It’s raggedy and falling apart, but I couldn’t live without it.
@9to5Mac The apps may be great, but beware the service behind them.
So you wanna know why egg prices are really up?
Wow, this is scary. Avian flu jumping to mammals and in least one case a human. Get ready.
Faith schools are divisive and exclusive. How will children learn to live together and understand each other if they are segregated? Families who wish their children to have a religious education can arrange for this out of school hours; it should not be the criterion on which admission is secured.

#FediTips : When someone follows you with an empty profile and no avatar, if they're on another instance and they've signed up very recently, it's likely that their profile information just hasn't federated to your instance yet. Click the three dots next to 'Follow' on their profile, and click 'open original page', then you can see if you're *really* getting follows from empty profiles. :)

Well there goes my sex life.
@doctorjaymarie@mastodon.world I have a friend who’s a middle school ELA teacher in FL. She’s almost finished with her dissertation and highly employable. However, her husband works for a FL university and isn’t likely to go anywhere. Only the young are truly mobile.
Of course, many border state teachers can easily commute to GA or AL, just as AL teachers retire and commute to FL or MS to teach. When did AL become the better alternative. That’s sad.
Wow. WaPo digs into why the South has the lowest credit scores in the country (adding to individual consumers' borrowing costs, freezing then out of credit at all). The answer: Medical debt. Because the South didn't expand Medicaid.

@annaleen Trans rights are a reliable miner's canary for human rights: if they're attacked, the invisible toxic cloud is coming for everyone else very soon. (They're not the only signal that human rights are under attack, but they're a very sensitive one and I've never heard of a major anti-rights offensive that didn't attack trans people as well as whoever the ostensible target was.) So: solidarity!
(Also I have trans friends, some of them going back 40 years, and they don't need that shit.)

"Norfolk Southern and its affiliates made over 100 contributions to Ohio state officials and candidates over the last five years. Including $29,000 to Gov. DeWine’s campaign and transition team, totaling nearly $100,000.
Since DeWine took office, Norfolk Southern has given him and other Ohio lawmakers $73,000 and successfully killed bipartisan railway safety legislation that would have helped protect railroad workers and the communities their trains passed through.
