With House Republicans proposing to abolish the IRS and institute a highly regressive mode of "simpler" taxation designed to bankrupt (or just starve) the federal government, I'm reminded of that time in 1996 when Walter Huss, an Oregon Christian Nationalist with ties to neo-Nazis and far right domestic terrorists who'd chaired the OR GOP in 1978, excitedly corresponded with Pat Buchanan about his "nation saving" single tax plan idea.

I have mixed feelings about Schiff running for Senate. He’s been masterful in Congress, and the House is where help is needed.
