How many shootings will it take before people finally realize the problem is THE GUNS???

@AlliFlowers @ai6yr I was going to come up with a list of “recreational” activities that wouldn’t result in killing kids at a baseball game. But the list is… literally everything except GUNS.
There may be a cultural diaspora behind the motivation to come to Texas. From https://www.nhpialliance.org/our-communities "States with some of the largest NHPI populations include:
California (361,000)
Washington (94,000)
Texas (73,000)
Florida (55,080)
New York (52,500)
Utah (48,370)"
In the late 90s, I was really surprised to learn there is a relatively large Tongan community in the Dallas area so out of curiosity, I looked at the demographics. Aside from the West Coast, you'd be more likely to find a guamanian/chamorro community in Texas. https://zipatlas.com/us/city-comparison/largest-guamanian-chamorro-community.htm
@AlliFlowers @arclight It's hard to remember that Texas actually has a sizeable liberal majority.
@AlliFlowers @arclight It says a lot about gerrymandering and fixed elections too.
@AlliFlowers @arclight 1 person, 1 vote. It's so simple. Representative Government was always too easy to manipulate unfairly.
@W6KME @AlliFlowers @arclight if you look at a map of Texas, it’s a sea of red with blue specs in Houston, Austin, maybe Dallas, and what used to be a strip along the Mexico border, until I don’t know what the hell happened to the brains of the Hispanic population. Maybe since November they’ve reverted somewhat as reality struck. The rest of the state is lightly populated, but it’s all red and tends to add up to something closer to 50-50.

It basically comes down to a couple that came here to work for American Airlines when DFW Airport was built. It was a cheap place to live then and the economy was booming with good jobs. It has even become tradition to perform the Haka at the high school football games. Oh, and Texas was historically Democrat, with a few exceptions, until the 1980s.
@BR549 @AlliFlowers @W6KME @Huntn00 Ann Richards was governor when I moved here.
@arclight @BR549 @AlliFlowers @W6KME When Texas felt sensical, progressive, headed in the right direction before the caustic RightWing malaise high jacked many average citizens minds making racism cool and blinding them to the forces manipulating them. 🤔
@AlliFlowers @W6KME This is the appeal of Texas: low cost living, somewhat healthy economy, but an over abundance of assholes… as I continue to sell moving up North to my wife. I’m reminded of the saying “you get what you pay for”. 🤔
@AlliFlowers @W6KME Moving from a 200-square-mile island to a spread-out place like Texas would be a nightmare, even without all the other terrible stuff.
