Turkey vultures often drift over my backyard—probably just checking. 😂 A whole crew nests somewhere in the forest behind the house. Whenever they’re overhead, I can’t help but aim my camera skyward.

I watched this little house finch (Haemorhous mexicanus) a couple of days ago. She perched in the same spot for ages, facing me and Charlie with one eye half-open—perhaps keeping quiet tabs on us. Aside from that, she looked thoroughly stuffed and seemed to be drifting into a post-snack nap.
