Remember that the media is owned by billionaires who want you to feel defeated, and like it's not worth trying. Go vote, even if you're in the reddest state possible, no matter what the polls say, this matters, you matter.

Feathered Elegance: A Cardinal’s Profile

Here is a female northern cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis) perched upon the tip of one of the posts of my fence. Often the females are the colors of sunset, as is this one.

A Glimpse of the Elusive Thrasher

This is a brown thrasher (Toxostoma rufum), when I took the photo, I thought it to be a finch.

"It can be tricky to glimpse a Brown Thrasher in a tangled mass of shrubbery, and once you do you may wonder how such a boldly patterned, gangly bird could stay so hidden. Brown Thrashers wear a somewhat severe expression thanks to their heavy, slightly downcurved bill and staring yellow eyes, and they are the only thrasher species east of Texas. This rose-breasted grosbeak (Pheucticus ludovicianus) looks like he has a big heart on his chest, doesn't he?

These birds are part of the family Cardinalidae, the same family as cardinals. Many species in this family are colorful.

You know, the photographs that I post here are not quite a vivid as the same photographs that I post at my pixel's gallery, because here, I reduce the size of the photos and usually make a slight reduction in the quality of the photos to make them easier to load.

Monochrome Munch

Here is an image of a Carolina chickadee (Poecile carolinensis) that I saw in forest behind my home. It was pretty dark among the trees and the chickadee was too far away for a detailed closeup. I like the image anyway and thought maybe displaying it in black and white/selective color would make it more interesting. I think a gold frame will set it off.

I've had several inquiries about how to get a print of some my photographs. This is a hobby for me, so I haven't been equipped to handle those requests. But I enjoy what I'm doing and want to share my photographs.

Birdwatch: A Colorful Encounter

There are three house finches (Haemorhous mexicanus) in this photograph. It caught my eye because I like the way the sky peeks through the forest canopy behind the birds.
