My Dad was a big gearhead — just *really* into cars.
This meant learning basic car stuff was part of my childhood, even though I was never especially interested/good at it.
He knew this, so he’d always low-key fix my car whenever I came home. And he also left stuff in my car he figured I’d need — cables, gear, a helpful note in a manual, etc.
Dad died in 2018, but I keep finding stuff he left behind when I need it — I found another this morning.
Thanks for still looking out for me, Dad.
So now I’m taking Ergocalciferol.
What a name for vitamin D2.
50,000 units sounds like a lot. Officially I’ve got osteoporosis like Mom and Grandma. I think it means I’m going to be one of those old ladies who gets shorter and shorter. I lost 1” in height within last year or so. Drat. I liked being tall: 69” sounded great. Have to be more careful to avoid breaking a bone. It’s also used to treat rickets (softening of the bones caused by vitamin D deficiency). First time I actually feel old.

Joyce Vance looks at what Alabama Republican senator Turbeville is doing, holding up more than 250 military promotions and, as of yesterday, causing the Marines to be without a Senate-confirmed commandant. Tuberville opposes the military's policy permitting enlistees to access reproductive health care of ouf state when necessary.
Republicans as a party supporting the military? Hardly, she concludes.

"Trump supporters are consolidating around the former president and so-called Christian democracy. They are enforcing loyalty so tightly that the far-right House Freedom Caucus recently expelled Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) either because she is too close to House speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) or because she called Representative Lauren Boebert (R-CO) a 'little bitch' on the floor of Congress, or both."

http://calendar.eji.org/racial-injustice/jul/11 In South Carolina, where 55 Council chapters were active by July 1956, 17 Black parents were fired or evicted from their farms within two weeks of signing a pro-integration petition in the small town of Elloree. In Yazoo County, Mississippi, when 53 Black residents signed an NAACP petition for integration, the local Council published their names in a newspaper ad, leading to harassment, firing, and credit cancellation. In the end, all signers removed their names from the petition and the Yazoo County NAACP disbanded.

It ought to be stunning that #Alabama’s contract review committee on Thursday reapproved 26 deals paying up to $14.9 million to one lawyer – Bill Lunsford – to defend the state’s disgraceful prison system.

The biggest Federal Scam of all time related to COVID relief. Who are you going to blame? https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-features/covid-relief-scam-fraud-money-billions-1234784448/ You might wonder how much debt the USA can handle before we tip over? One of the fundamental problems is the GOP constantly promising to lower taxes, with the goal of eradicate social spending, that lowers the wealthy people’s taxes by millions and you average citizen get $100 off. We need a discussion about taxes and how we spend our tax money. A talk less likely from the GOP.
"That a Republican is undermining the military belies the party’s traditional claim to be stronger on military issues than the Democrats. So does the attack of House Republicans on our nation’s key law enforcement entities—the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation—after traditionally insisting their party works to defend 'law and order.'”
