Too everyone- I’m getting fatigued with the conversation, everyone has stated their positions without agreement. I’ll agree to disagree. For all of the pro-anarchy arguments, you don’t have a single example of a large a modern anarchist society, and you’ve not proven it is superior from a lesser violence standpoint, and finally it is no where adequate to navigate the Great Filter which requires broad cooperation. My experience is that just won’t happen.

@HeavenlyPossum@kolektiva.social @mloxton Those groups organized into settlements, and then settlements aligned with each other, and the next thing you know States and Countries, all for security. :)

@HeavenlyPossum@kolektiva.social @mloxton Yes mass violence, agreed commited by people. Questions? 😉 Still looking for the reason why anarchy is the silver bullet that counters the violent tendency of human beings. 🤔 I don’t want to hear about the Bronze Age, but today, how it would be implemented. I can actually see a more peaceful, less destructible path towards socialism than towards anarchy.

@HeavenlyPossum@kolektiva.social @mloxton for group security, humans will organize into groups. Arguably warlords gain power by force and they are countered by other groups, a counter force, possibly, ideally democratic. For you, that might be called the state. My guess is you object to states because they scoop up territory, but we used to have territories. And they decided it was in their best interest to become a state, for security. 🤔

@RD4Anarchy@kolektiva.social in a nutshell, Luddites feared technology because of job displacement. Enclosure, I’ll have to look that up to tell you if I’m familiar with it or not.🙂

@mloxton @HeavenlyPossum@kolektiva.social @spoons@kolektiva.social @WolfChristensen@kolektiva.social @foolishowl IMO, whether you have competence and professionalism in your work is a standard separate from a chosen economic or political system. It has to do with safety to yourself and those around you.

@HeavenlyPossum@kolektiva.social @spoons@kolektiva.social @mloxton @foolishowl @WolfChristensen@kolektiva.social As long as humans are involved, there is no ideal system, there are better systems that promote equality and democracy as long as the majority insist on these standards. That is not the record. Your arguments that anarchy is the silver bullet is your opinion, but to get there IMO will involve mass destruction, which may happen on our current path as is. 🤔

@RD4Anarchy@kolektiva.social @mloxton @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social you are absolutely correct we’re a large group of people with different views and unfortunately, a lot of us are selfish, we tend to be sheep, and we hardly ever agree on a single path forward. I don’t think anyone in this conversation hopes you’re naïve, informed is much better. 🙂

@gdeihl This is huge, young adults win a land mark environmental case in a conservative State. After all it’s the world trashed they are inheriting. As a rule all the young adults need to get active in our political system and toss out the Yahoos taking us,taking the world down. Fingers crossed they stay grounded and work for us all. But…where does it go from here? 🤔

@HeavenlyPossum@kolektiva.social @mloxton @spoons@kolektiva.social @foolishowl @WolfChristensen@kolektiva.social You need to clarify.

@RD4Anarchy@kolektiva.social Of course I know about Luddites 🙂 I won’t argue about violence, agreed, part and parcel of humanity and change. Bottom line manufacturing was the future as it developed, could make more money in the factory than on the farm. Workers flocked to it. It’s a complete fallacy to argue the species today would be better as anarchists because we as a species did not choose anarchy. Maybe someday we will. 🤔

A rare victory in the #ClimateEmergency. This is an example of regular people persisting and fighting no matter what. This is how we have to fight if we are to have a future on this planet. We KNOW our corporate owned political systems aren't going to get it done. This is the sad truth. geoffreydeihl.substack.com/p/a

@RD4Anarchy@kolektiva.social I’m not hostile to your views, however it was the Industrial Revolution, large scale manufacturing which drew masses of people out of agriculture into the factories, mass production a new efficient way to create and make a lot of money. We flocked to it. It was more of a natural development. But if you want to be angry be angry at the people in charge People like you and me who had an idea that propelled us as a species forward. 🤔

“In 2022, a report commissioned by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded that the agency’s internal culture was riddled with structural racism. Some employees recounted being described as “monkeys” while others were continually asked to disavow terrorist attacks. In response, the foreign minister Wopke Hoekstra promised reform. “This is not who we want to be,” he said.”

You don’t say. I’m shocked I tell you. Shocked.

@RD4Anarchy@kolektiva.social @mloxton @WolfChristensen@kolektiva.social @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social The answer is cause and effect. There are good and bad people, but collectively I predict we will muddle along and won’t take climate change seriously enough until we start dieing in mass. Right now this should be our top priority, trumping established economic systems, but half of us seem to think it’s a liberal conspiracy to rob them. 😢

@spoons@kolektiva.social @foolishowl @HeavenlyPossum@kolektiva.social @WolfChristensen@kolektiva.social @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social @mloxton management of a nuclear power plant, any complex machinery requires, knowledge, training, set procedures, and intelligence. Economic systems have little to do with these type standards. You either insist on competence and professionalism or you end up with an event and a crisis. 🤔

@HeavenlyPossum @WolfChristensen @Radical_EgoCom @mloxton @spoons @Huntn00 David Graeber talked about "baseline communism", the basic mutual aid and cooperation any society needs to function at all.

I'm also fond of this essay, which explains that even in a workplace like a nuclear power plant, most activity is peer-to-peer cooperation, and hierarchical decisionmaking actually interferes with normal operations.
