@JizzelEtBass@kolektiva.social @WolfChristensen@kolektiva.social @spoons@kolektiva.social @mloxton @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social What the USA proves is that you can be a successful democracy with a substantial number of hypocrites and forces trying to twist it to serve themselves. The majority will rule in what it insists on or what it allows. We’re humans right? 🤔🫣
@HeavenlyPossum@kolektiva.social @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social @WolfChristensen@kolektiva.social @spoons@kolektiva.social @mloxton You are talking about people and what people do. Am I right to say that if we were magically dropped into anarchist setting we would continue to do what we do, abuse each other or would our nature magically change? 🤔
@HeavenlyPossum@kolektiva.social @WolfChristensen@kolektiva.social @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social @spoons@kolektiva.social @mloxton I’ll argue that norms are established by practise of what humans do. And as a rule they don’t do anarchy. Believe it or not I’m not intending to be prejudicial, but observational and I’m not hostile to your preferences. 🙂
@HeavenlyPossum@kolektiva.social @EmbraceBecoming@kolektiva.social @mloxton @SocialistStan@mymastadon.link @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social Anarchy resists authority that has been democratically agreed to based on a majority? If we want to get anything big done, there has to be structure, and there is always a hierarchy among humans.
@mloxton @Lightfighter @WolfChristensen@kolektiva.social @spoons@kolektiva.social @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social I don’t think that the anarchy advocates realize the suffering and death that (I imagine) would be required to achieve it. The idea of “I’ll be happy then” is by no means assured. It’s one thing to discuss anarchy as an idea/philosophy and another to think that a forced conversion would be other than deadly to millions and maybe that’s our fate. 🤔
@mloxton @chrixmaru@kolektiva.social @WolfChristensen@kolektiva.social @spoons@kolektiva.social @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social Capitalism shipped millions of jobs East decimating the USA post WWII middle class, business models are typically built on slave labor wages, it’s not about sharing the wealth but securing wealth for small groups of people, and many employees are not even guaranteed a share. Automation and AI accelerates this trend to a tipping point.
@SocialistStan@mymastadon.link @mloxton @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social You don’t live in a vacuum. If you have millions of people living together and you hope to get any big things accomplished, like infrastructure, there has to be a level of organization supported by democracy, with an agreed to pay structure. You can either agree to participate or instead maybe wait for the local War Lord’s thugs to appear on your doorstep and dictate, to include dating your daughter.
@EmbraceBecoming@kolektiva.social @SocialistStan@mymastadon.link @mloxton @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social @HeavenlyPossum@kolektiva.social I highly recommend watching Station Eleven, a wonderful post-apocalyptic portrayal of anarchy. As far as it goes I have no issues with it. The key is that most of humanity has been wiped out…🤔

@EmbraceBecoming@kolektiva.social @SocialistStan@mymastadon.link @mloxton @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social @HeavenlyPossum@kolektiva.social Honestly I have a hard time picturing anarchy developing as described. States, then countries form specifically because of external threats from groups of other human beings. Imo an organized group of people working together as a matter of routine will overcome small groups of independent “my rules” anarchists in a fight for territory.
@Lightfighter @mloxton @WolfChristensen@kolektiva.social @spoons@kolektiva.social @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social As far as sophomoric views of anarchy, I’d counter with don’t make anarchy out to be all peaches and cream. This is humanity. There will be good and bad, and warlords and the required organization, structure and despised hierarchy to counter those leaders and their supporters seeking power.
@chrixmaru@kolektiva.social @WolfChristensen@kolektiva.social @mloxton @spoons@kolektiva.social @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social … or a tipping point is reached and we collapse into… anarchy, whatever anyone likes to make out of that. I’m not critical of anarchy supporters, just questioning how viable it is from the standpoint of getting our collective act together to not destroy the billions of ourselves. Check out The Great Filter. 🤔
@chrixmaru@kolektiva.social @WolfChristensen@kolektiva.social @mloxton @spoons@kolektiva.social @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social I’ll clarify that I’m not a capitalism defender, once thought it could work with hard core regulations, social safety nets, guarantees of free education, job training, and medical care. But I’m starting to think that the required oversights and control over it, to work for the vast majority, it might no longer be called Capitalism. 🤔
@chrixmaru@kolektiva.social @WolfChristensen@kolektiva.social @mloxton @spoons@kolektiva.social @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social Capitalism has been the greatest wealth generator ever conceived. The issue is it’s not designed to make everyone wealthy, large numbers struggle under it, people are taken advantage of by it. I predict it will struggle or fail with automation and AI when a tipping point is reached. Yet, I don’t accept anarchy as inherently better. TFYI/O.
@chrixmaru@kolektiva.social @WolfChristensen@kolektiva.social @mloxton @spoons@kolektiva.social @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social With automation and AI, I predict Capitalism is heading for a cliff. The tipping point is when the majority can’t find meaningful employment, At this point, you’d better hope there is broad consensus about a new direction, and a government willing to seize the moment in our favor or it’s gonna be much worse than better. 🤔
@spoons@kolektiva.social @WolfChristensen@kolektiva.social @mloxton @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social The human species is just muddling along to our demise. Climate change is a serious threat, along with food disruption. Collectively despite being warned for 40 freaking years, we are not doing enough because “it costs too much”. Most of us are sheep, the Capitalists are harvesting all the wealth they can, “let’s worry about this tomorrow” is the motto. The smart ones spoke out but were ignored as we role towards the edge. Questions? 🤔
@WolfChristensen@kolektiva.social @mloxton @spoons@kolektiva.social @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social Liberal war crimes?. Thanks for the discussion. It’s liberals that are fighting for Trans rights. Conservatives want to lock you away. Take care.
@WolfChristensen@kolektiva.social @mloxton @spoons@kolektiva.social @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social With vaccines it has been proven that to be effective the herd must be vaccinated. With COVID, THE ANTI-vaccers prolonged the crisis.
@mloxton @WolfChristensen@kolektiva.social @spoons@kolektiva.social @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social And more and more metric is showing up in the grocery store..
@WolfChristensen@kolektiva.social @mloxton @spoons@kolektiva.social @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social I have yet to see a single argument why anarchy is superior for groups of people, or individuals en mass.
