@GW@newsie.social I am very skeptical of the ability of humans operating under capitalism to do right by their fellow human beings. There are the fat cats who had a great idea, but then there are the sheep who in their way volunteer to be sheered. AI will only aggravate the inequities, arguably pushing human civilization to the brink. I predict a breakdown under Capitolism at some point. What emerges is unknown at this point if some of us manage to survive it. 🤔

I wonder what Gould would say about the propensity of some modern humans to put much of their efforts into undermining their fellow human beings to benefit themselves? Rhetorical: Is this one of the prices of having such intelligence the temptations become too much or is this just how human beings ended up? Then we have some not so smart people who will believe whatever fantasy they are fed as long as self benefit is perceived? 🤔

@samlitzinger At one point rural guns were not the same level of threat as urban guns, ie, a. mIllion people living in close proximity to one another.
When I was growing up in the 60s, suburbs of DC (rural Md) we had guns, and hunted with them, no big deal, but you could not carry a gun as a matter of routine just because. The issues are: guns achieve worship status, fist fights became gun fights, and daily mass shootings. We have a problem and we must consider mental health in the equation. 🤔
