@MikeDunnAuthor@kolektiva.social I don’t want to believe the first half of your quote as an infallible rule. WWII was fought to take down fascism and after that were several decades of moving in a better direction, at least my perception. But for 40 yrs in the USA, we are witnessing how the Right Wing is no longer supporting democratic principles, but moving towards fascism, dystopia, cheat to win, destroy the concept of equality in all its applications. So the struggle continues.🤔
@Siroj42 @MikeDunnAuthor@kolektiva.social Not making any excuses for humanity. We don’t instantly rise up to correct atrocities wherever, whenever they occur. We usually respond when we personally start to be adversely effected by some situation somewhere. For the US, the post WWII anti-communist world cops we became, which btw we can longer afford to be.. world cops, as we can’t seem to manage our own affairs much less the Worlds…🤔
@Huntn00 @MikeDunnAuthor If it had actually been fought to eradicate fascism, the allies would have finished the job by defeating Franco. But they didn't, letting down the veterans from the Spanish Civil War (which is the war the originator of the quote fought and died in, by the way) who supported the allies by joining their armies or the French resistance after fleeing the country.
