@violetmadder@kolektiva.social @MKSinSA Heard a report on the radio today that most of Iran may not be habitable by 2050. I imagine this could be true for much of the lower latitude desert regions.
The human species does not appear wired to make the necessary choices to beat this. Our economies (humans) will fight this tooth and nail.
If we ever cut back emissions, some of this could be dialed back if we don’t wait for all the forests to burn.
As a teen, let's say 50 years ago, my parents had a Time, Life or National Geo, with a pullout section on #ClimateChange (or global warming back then). It had world maps showing uninhabitable region predictions that now prove eerily accurate. I remember the green, livable part of N. America was Canada. That's probably their big miss, since that's on fire and on the way to being unlivable, too.
@MKSinSA @violetmadder@kolektiva.social This has been pushed ever since I was a teen 1970 and it’s always been regarded as a nuisance warning “what, you expect us to interrupt our good times for this hogwash? It’s Party time, Baby!! We can worry about that later.” So now, is later…and “hey, this is going to cost money! Let’s wait a while. It’s not our fault. Que sera.” ☀️☀️ Exhibit No.1: https://www.astronomy.com/science/the-great-filter-a-possible-solution-to-the-fermi-paradox/
@MKSinSA @violetmadder@kolektiva.social Bunkers for the rich- That will work great until a mob appears, normally I’d say with pitchforks, but thinking of #TheDirtyDozen, pours gasoline down the air vents followed by a grenade. 🤔
Disclaimer, this is not a suggestion, incitement, or instigation, just a fictional projection into the possibilities and probabilities of a post-armageddon future, with the wealthy trying to avoid the consequences of a really bad day on Earth.
