What the fuck is the cost to everyone of not having rainforests anymore?

I'm so sick of everything being framed as a "cost". What about the *benefits* of doing a thing? Like, what are economic benefits of having extensive and healthy rainforests?
If some fucking economist is like, "we can't calculate that, it's literally incalculable," I'm going to fucking strangle him. Just because something doesn't fit nicely into your spreadsheets, it doesn't mean it lacks value.

I blame Capitalism although I benefitted from it. We create economic systems where we compete, depend on the company we’re vested in to make money and sometimes make us wealthy. Concern about social stability and environment appears outside the purview of profits when there is a lot of wealth involved. At best it’s a token concern and we seem tunable to think in terms of group, planetary health and rise to the occasion, in time. All the warnings mean nada until we are smacked. 😬
